UPDATED STORYBOARD

NEW TITLE

Due to the change in genres we thought it would be appropriate to further develop the narrative by giving the audience more hints at the tone of the rest of the film. Moreover we changed the name of our opening as before when it was 'before your very eyes' this linked with the narrative because the main character had her eyes closed throughout, and opened them at the end to reveal that her eyes were all white. However on changing the narrative we then changed the name to 'Sheeple' which is a word that refers to people being compared to being a sheep and following others easily. We thought this was appropriate as it is different and can hint to the genre. Moreover by writing it in ketchup we felt that it would be comical and ironic as it is meant to look like fake blood but obviously isn't, which almost creates a sense of taking the mickey of the previous fake blood shots. By doing this it creates a messy affect which is what we wanted as it represents more of what the rest of the film would be like. Finally by adding in the duck creating mess and landing in the writing it links back to the bathroom theme and the annoying child who creates disruption.

FINAL NINE FRAMES

Our nine frames shown here are taken from our final product and we feel give a clear summary and indication of product. By looking at these we can see two distinct genres, furthermore showing the development of our idea, however by looking closer, e.g the font on the toilet roll and soap we can see how even though the first section appears to be horror/thriller it actually is a comedy.
Furthermore by looking at the colours we have used there is a difference in the saturation between the 'thriller' shots and we're the opening reveals it is going to be a comedy. This is because there is more darker/blue saturation on the first couple of shots , however the last two have no colour change, and the use of the colours pink, further indicate comedy and a change in genre.
Moreover by looking at the use of blood in the first section on the mirror we can see that it would create a sense of unease in the audience , which therefor creates more of a juxtaposition as we have lead the audience in a different direction to what the ending would suggest. Also by looking at the end title screen we can see that we have used the ketchup in an ironic and comical way, as fake blood, relating back to the earlier narrative.

COMEDY DIRECTOR

TIM BURTON

Tim Burton is a famous American director well known for his comedy films. He was born on 25th August 1958 and spent most of his childhood drawing cartoons, and after he graduated from high school he then went on to work for the animation depart for Disney after graduating from art college in California. He then left Disney as he felt it wasn't for him and went on to director many films such as 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and 'The Nightmare before Christmas'. I think that he is an appropriate director as he has created many films which are of a darker comedy , which is the direction that we are going to take our film opening, however many of his more famous films are stop frame animation , as this is what he was best at. Overall he has been able to continuously appeal to a large variety of ages whilst further exploring the genre.

ICONOGRPAPHY OF COMEDY

Overall through research I have found that there isn't set iconography for comedy, however there are certain features that we can pick up. These include bright colours, natural lighting , high amounts of energy and action. Overall I have found that there is a broad variety of comedy and often it is individual to the film.

TYPES OF COMEDY

1. ACTION COMEDY
Combines action with humor , this means that action scenes tend to be less intense than what would be in a traditional movie. Examples: Hot Fuzz

2. BLACK-COMEDY
These films explore themes which can be considered a taboo, by taking topics which are often seen as serious and explores them in a funny way. Examples: Fargo

3. HORROR-COMEDY
combines traditional horror with comedy, and this genre can often cross over with black comedy. Examples: Shaun of the Dead

4. DRAMEDY
Comedy which has a dramatic tone, yet includes important elements of comedy , meaning that the amounts of each are equal. Examples: Little Miss Sunshine

5.ROMANTIC-COMEDY
A popular sub-genre with the combination of love and humor , often including  romantic ideal such as true love. Examples: When Harry Met Sally

SUMMARY FROM SURVEY

The results from the survey monkey are from our target audience and show a variety of opinions , which gave us constructive feedback , helping us to further develop our opening. The main issue that we found was that there was confusion between what genre it was meant to be. This then left us with the option to re-do the credits or to create a plot twist and have it turn into a comedy in the end, leaving the current credits in as hints.
